Thought Jamie was just a church organist doing regular services, funerals and weddings? Guess again. Multilingual vocalist, theatrical accompanist, recording artist, band keyboardist—from Toronto to Halifax, from Orillia to Ottawa, Jamie has been on the professional music scene in these areas and more for nearly forty years:
- He has worked with such notable musicians as Jeff Healey, Tommy Banks, David Warrack, and Dominic Spera.
- He has played in a variety of Ottawa bands such as Incity Dreams, Soul Review Board and Stone Soul Picnic, played as a civilian musician in the HMCS York Stage Band (Toronto), and sat in with or subbed for musicians in GTA bands such as Tight Squeeze, Power Play and LMT Connection.
- He has been the accompanist for community and professional musical theatre productions of Mame, The Music Man, the Kander & Ebb revue Two By Five and the David Warrack musicals Piper and We Got Love.
- He has performed at noted venues such as the Ottawa Bluesfest, the Château Laurier and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa; the Orillia Opera House in Orillia, Ontario; the Château Montebello in Montebello, Quebec; the Middle Deck at the Privateer's Warehouse in Halifax; and Ottawa nightclubs such as the Rainbow Bistro, the Glue Pot, Barrymore's and Irene's Pub.
- He has helped open for notable musicians such as Albert Collins and Rufus Wainwright.
- His original material combines elements of pop, jazz and new age, with influences from Beethoven, André Gagnon, Jean-Luc Ponty, the Bee Gees, Yanni and Level 42.
- In addition to writing and recording his own material, he also produces his own music videos, along with music videos for fellow musicians.
Jamie is a member of the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada, and as such is committed to high standards in musicianship. If you are looking for top-notch talent for your live event, rest assured that Jamie's dedication to these standards is cutting-edge at an affordable price.
In preparation for local engagements such as house parties, nightclub shows and community events, Jamie focuses on recording MIDI backing tracks of cover material for various types of solo shows to play the live piano part against. In addition to material known to North American audiences, some of the cover material he performs comes from noted European artists such as Juliane Werding, Herbert Grönemeyer, Ich + Ich, Rosenstolz and the German singer-songwriter Kira. While most of the European material he does is in German, he also does material in a sprinkling of various other languages, including Greek, Croatian and Turkish. His original material straddles the stylistic borders between pop, jazz and new age.
Note: Jamie distances himself from the Outlander character of the same name for trademark distinctiveness reasons: this is his legal name, under which he has been performing for over fifty-one years. With that in mind, Jamie is making every effort to avoid legal entanglements similar to Apple Corps vs. Apple Computer.
